⇀ Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare® Medical Interpreter Training ↼
The Interpreting and Translation Department, formerly known as Language Quills (LQ) at Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA) is offering a one-of-a-kind Medical Interpreter Training Program starting January 14, 2017, to train interpreters in the healthcare profession.
The program, Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare®: A Medical Interpreter Training Course (BBiH), follows a 40-hour curriculum that is recognized by the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) to fulfill the required first step toward professional interpretation and national certification. BBiH is open to speakers of many languages and the only prerequisite is complete fluency in both English and in your target language(s).
The program, six (6) days in length, will meet Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:30pm at ASIA’s Akron office located at 730 Carroll Street. Learners who pass Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare® will receive a Certificate of Proficiency stating they have been trained to interpret in medical settings in their target language. Holding this certificate will allow participants to apply for interpretation jobs with agencies all over the globe!
The next session is January 14, 2017. Enroll today!
