For over 20 years, Asian Services In Action (ASIA) has provided programs and services vital to the community. This year we celebrated our “Legacy of Service” which honors 20 years of commitment to the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community through quality, culturally, and linguistically appropriate information. With the help of sponsors, community supporters and volunteers, ASIA was able to raise close to $80,000 at its 2016, 20th Anniversary Gala and Fundraiser on November 18th. Nearly 200 guests attended the event at the Cleveland State University, downtown campus for an evening filled with live and silent auctions, cultural performances, and multiethnic catering sourced directly from northeast Ohio’s Asian & Pacific Islander (API) community. Fund-a-Need: The event came at a critical time. During the fall of 2016, ASIA anticipated a 25% increase in services for our older adults. This includes more participants in our socialization and meal program, called Lucky Seniors, and our citizenship services which help immigrants become U.S. citizens. ASIA is Ohio’s largest Pan-Asian health and social service agency providing basic needs for culturally and linguistically relevant programs to help individuals and families, including our older adults, thrive. Part of the proceeds were allocated to benefit ASIA’s Lucky Senior and Citizenship Services. Te night of the gala, we demonstrated our legacy of service to reach our goal at the Gala. Thank you so much for everyone who donated at the Gala to support this initiative.
All proceeds from our 20th Anniversary Gala and Fundraiser directly support our mission: to empower and advocate for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPIs); and to provide AAPIs and other communities access to quality, culturally, and linguistically appropriate information, health and social services.
Thank you to our sponsors!
