⇀ Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare® Medical Interpreter Training ↼
The Interpreting and Translation Department is offering a one-of-a-kind Medical Interpreter Training Program to train interpreters in the healthcare profession. The next session will start on October 5, 2019. The program, six (6) days in length, will meet on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm at ASIA’s Akron office located at 370 East Market St. in Akron, Ohio. Learners who pass the Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare®: A Medical Interpreter Training Course (BBiH) will receive a Certificate of Proficiency stating they have been trained to interpret in medical settings in their target language. Holding this certificate will allow participants to apply for interpretation jobs with agencies all over the globe!

The program, Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare®: A Medical Interpreter Training Course (BBiH), follows a 40-hour curriculum recognized by the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) to fulfill the required first step toward professional interpretation and national certification. BBiH is open to speakers of many languages and the only prerequisite is complete fluency in both English and in your target language(s).
