The Wang Ji Thong Family Scholarship
FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
The Wang-Ji-Thong Family Scholarship For Health Professions offers three $2,500 scholarships to be awarded to students interested or currently pursuing studies in the health field. The winners will additionally have the opportunity to shadow health professionals at ASIA’s International Community Health Center (ICHC).
Interested candidates must be part of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) or refugee and immigrant communities and must be studying a health-related field. Each candidate must submit a copy of their SAT or ACT score(s), a typed essay, and a resume/CV that includes volunteerism. A letter of recommendation must be emailed directly to Kelly Le at kle@asiaohio.org.
A scholarship selection committee, including Dr. Wang and Mr. Ji, will review applicants based on academic standing, community engagement, financial need, and essay responses. Finalists will sit through virtual interviews and applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, school official, or community leader.
Winners will receive an initial $2,500 award, and a one-time renewable $500 book scholarship will be awarded upon completion of the first-year progress report and commitment to mentor incoming-year scholarship awardee(s).

Aiming Higher Scholarship
FOR REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT STUDENTS IN NORTHEAST OHIO
Two scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded to members of the Northeast Ohio refugee and immigrant communities served by Asian Services in Action, Inc. who are seeking higher education after high school.
The Coleman Foundation offers two “Aiming Higher” scholarships up to $5,000.00 each for tuition and educational related expenses to members of the Northeast Ohio refugee and immigrant communities served by Asian Services in Action, Inc. The scholarships are intended for: (a) graduating high school seniors, or (b) high school graduates wishing to begin or who are currently engaged in higher education studies. Â
Scholarships are for students attending accredited institutions of higher learning -– including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges—or professionally recognized certificate programs that offer specialized training.Â
Interested candidates must be part of the refugee and immigrant communities. They must be a current high school senior OR a high school graduate wishing to begin or are already engaged in higher education studies. Each candidate must submit a complete application and two letters of recommendation to be considered. Letters of recommendation must be emailed directly to Kelly Le at kle@asiaohio.org.
A scholarship selection committee, including Dr. Bill Coleman and Ms. Ruth Coleman, will review applicants. Finalists are interviewed and awardees are chosen based on the application requisites.
Applications are due Saturday, June 1, 2024.
