The most celebrated trade route in human history comes to life at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History in Traveling the Silk Road: Ancient Pathway to the Modern World through evocative sights, sounds and objects as well as intriguing interactives. Traveling the Silk Road transports visitors to four ancient cities: Xi’an, the capital of China’s Tang Dynasty; Turfan, a verdant oasis and trading outpost along the Silk Road; Samarkand, a center for prosperous merchants who thrived on the caravan trade; and Baghdad, a cosmopolitan hub of commerce and scholarship that flourished as a leading intellectual center of the time.The exhibition is open May 31 to Oct. 5, 2014. Traveling the Silk Road is free with Museum admission.
