Afterschool program serving newcomer families’ children receives generous GAR Foundation support

Akron, Ohio – Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA) is pleased to announce that support for ASIA’s International Community Empowerment Project (ICEP) was provided by a grant from GAR Foundation. ICEP works with the immigrant and refugee youth in the North Hill area by providing academic support and acculturation assistance.

ICEP is ASIA’s oldest program serving 90 elementary and middle school youth each year.  The program offers: mentoring and tutoring; assists students to meet state academic standards; fosters health lifestyle choices; and supports pride in one’s culture and heritage.  The GAR Foundation has been an anchor funder for this very critical program.
