ASIA, Inc. Launches Community Relations & Development Department

Kara Ulmer has been selected as the Director of Community Relations and Development.

Asian Services In Action, (ASIA, Inc.) announced the launch of the Community Relations and Development Department, which seeks to enhance the communication between ASIA, Inc. and the community they serve. The department facilitates public communications, volunteer recruitment, partnership engagement, and donor development for the organization.

“Our community is at the heart of our mission,” said Elaine Tso, CEO. “The Community Relations and Development Department will grow our connection to the community and foster collaboration that will further enhance our commitment to the refugee and immigrant community.”

Kara Ulmer was recently selected as the Director of Community Relations and Development.  In her new role, Ulmer will be focused on engaging the wider community of NorthEast Ohio through volunteer recruitment, partnership engagement, marketing, special events, and donor development for ASIA, Inc.

Ulmer, an Akron native, is excited to continue advocating for and serving the immigrant and refugee community of NorthEast Ohio in her new role. She has over a decade of experience working with multi-national companies and has worked extensively with organizations to combat human trafficking in countries including Ghana, Cambodia, and Thailand.

During her most recent experience at World Relief Akron, Ulmer helped to resettle over four hundred refugees locally, engaging volunteers and community partners to help families begin their new life in the Akron area.

“I am honored to serve in this capacity as the Director of Community Relations and Development,” says Kara Ulmer. “I am eager to engage with the community we serve and look forward to working with our stakeholders, partners, and residents.”
