ASIA's community garden looks to bring community together

Summer is well underway and ASIA’s community garden is up and running. Despite the high temperatures, three dedicated volunteers from John Carroll University are working hard to promote and maintain the garden on E 45th and Payne Avenue in Cleveland’s AsiaTown neighborhood. The volunteers are currently recruiting gardeners from around the neighborhood to join the project and are also planning a kick-off event to bring area residents to the space.

ASIA’s community garden is supported by small grants and generous donations from KeyBank and its employees as well as funding from the ReImagining Cleveland program.  “We are currently growing zucchini, tomatoes, and basil, but we have 22 raised garden beds to fill,” said Kitty Leung, ASIA staff.   “There is room to grow.”

ASIA is currently recruiting volunteers to join the garden project. Please contact Kitty Leung (216.881.0330 or kitty.leung@asiaohio.org) for more information.
