Executive Director appointed to Governor's Council and recently recognized by the Commission on Minority Health

Asian Services In Action’s executive director was recently appointed as one of ten members to Governor Ted Strickland’s Asian American Advisory Council.  The Council which is set for its first meeting this month will offer Ohio’s Asian American community a direct link to the Governor’s office to inform and to provide recommendations on matters such as civil rights, economic development, health, and cultural arts.

“I am honored at this appointment and hope that I can serve to communicate the vital issues, concerns, and hopes of our Asian American community here in Ohio,” said Michael Byun, executive director.

In addition to the Governor’s appointment, Michael was recently recognized at the March 25th Community Recognition and Award Ceremony sponsored by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.  Michael was acknowledged for his contribution as ASIA’s executive director to further the cause of health equity and to the elimination of health disparities for Ohio’s Asian Americans.
