As one of the hardest hit states, Ohio reflects the struggle of many throughout the nation.  The mortgage crisis exposed weaknesses in the housing system which has long affected low-income families and communities of color.  An estimated 25% of Black and Hispanic borrowers in the U.S. lost homes or are at serious risk of losing their homes compared to 12% of White borrowers.  We must stabilize our housing market by making it more accessible, equitable, and sustainable.  To shed light on true solutions and to bring sensible homeownership back to the national debate, the National Council of La Raza with its civil rights and consumer partners are hosting a tour of Home for Good town halls to ensure that our leaders:

  1. Stop needless foreclosures
  2. Expand affordable rental housing
  3. Revive a sustainable path to homeownership
