ASIA, Inc. Hosts Educational Webinar on Public Charge

On Wednesday, July 25, Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA, Inc.) hosted a Public Charge 101 webinar with partners all across Ohio and the Midwest. During the webinar, participants learned more about the proposed public charge changes and its potential impacts on to the new American community, an overview about ASIA, Inc.’s recent meeting with OMB led by AAPCHO, and client experiences at U.S. Consulates following changes made to the Foreign Affairs Manual. Jamie Sitang, current graduate student at Kent State University and ASIA, Inc.’s Policy Intern, organized the event. Organizations in attendance included those from Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati, among other cities. Participants expressed that this webinar was their first time learning about the public charge, and after the webinar, two-thirds of the attendees committed to submitting public comments once the rule drops. ASIA, Inc. is the leading organization in Ohio in providing culturally and linguistically relevant health and human services to new Americans.
