A message from We Belong Together, the Women’s Refugee Commission, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC:
The time is now! We need the House of Representatives to move forward with an immigration bill that includes women and families.
This Spring, women’s voices had a powerful impact on the Senate Immigration Bill. Now, we must raise our voices again to ensure that the House moves forward with immigration reform that’s fair to women and families.
There are three things you and your organization can do to urge the House to take action on immigration reform and ensure that any proposed legislation treats women fairly and keeps families together:
1. Sign our open letter. Join We Belong Together, The Women’s Refugee Commission, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice to tell the women of the House of Representatives that we’re counting on their leadership to pass immigration reform that will be fair for women and families. Click here to add your organization’s name to our open letter. The deadline for signing is Thursday, July 25th.
2. Share this email and invite your networks to sign on so that we can send a powerful message to the House.
3. Join a special White House call on Women, Families, and Immigration. We’ve been invited to participate in a conference call with Cecilia Muñoz, Assistant to the President & Director of the Domestic Policy Council on Wednesday, July 24th at 3:00 pm ET. Click here to RSVP for the call.
During the call, the White House Office of Public Engagement will provide an update on the ongoing immigration discussion. This is an important opportunity to make sure that women and families are at the forefront of the immigration conversation, so we want to make sure that as many of us are on the call as possible.
The call is closed to press. Click here to RSVP by Tuesday, July 23rd at 10AM ET.
