United Way of Summit County funds ASIA school readiness program

ASIA is pleased to announce a grant award from the United Way of Summit County. United Way is generously supporting ASIA’s Project READY, a school readiness program for refugee children and their parents.   Project READY uses home visits and group meetings  to empower and train parents to help maximize their children’s development.

The  program serves 10-12 families mainly from the Nepalese, Mon, Burmese and Karen communities (refugees who are considered a “high need” emerging population in Summit County).  Thanks to the support of United Way, Project READY will be able to increase its number of parent group meetings to include an additional cultural group from the Akron refugee community to support their children’s readiness.

For more information, please contact Ed Kollin, Program Specialist (edkollin@asiaohio.org).
