Asian Services in Action (ASIA) is a comprehensive health and human services agency serving neighbors in multiple languages. We run two federally qualified health centers —one in Cleveland and one in Akron—that specialize in linguistically and culturally competent healthcare for immigrants, refugees, and native-born citizens. We also provide wrap-around social services for food insecure or limited English proficient communities to thrive in Northeast Ohio.

ASIA was founded in 1995 by four women who sought to improve the quality of life for Asians in Northeast Ohio. Today, the organization serves neighbors of all walks of life in health and social services as a 501(c)(3) organization in the State of Ohio. ASIA has taken on the most challenging tasks to help food insecure, low-income, and indigent communities in multiple languages. We support over 40,000 individuals annually in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio through culturally and linguistically appropriate resources to ensure that all neighbors, whether they come from near or far, have the means to thrive.

Mission

ASIA delivers trusted, high-quality, comprehensive, and multilingual health and social services to empower and support Northeast Ohioans.

Vision

Thriving, connected communities across Northeast Ohio where newcomers and their families shape their own futures, live with dignity, and contribute fully to a harmonious and healthy society.

History

In 1995, four women, each a professional in her own field, met together to discuss the untapped potential existing in the emerging Asian Pacific American (APA) population in Northeast Ohio. They knew that hard work, challenges and barriers would lie ahead.

Committing their time and resources to this undertaking, these friends soon laid the foundation for ASIA. Their first effort was the planning and carrying out of a one-day health initiative that reached 60 members from the Asian community. 25 years later, the organization serves over 40,000 new American clients and patients through 60+ programs and services, annually. ASIA has a language capacity of over 55 ethnic dialects.
