KEYNOTE SPEAKER ANNOUNCED FOR 3RD ANNUAL SPRING SPEAKER SERIES

AKRON, OH – Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA) is proud to announce the keynote speaker for the 3rd Annual Spring Speaker Series, scheduled for April 16, 2018, at Summit Artspace (map) in downtown Akron. Hamayon Yaqobi, Former U.S. Army Interpreter, a powerful voice from Ohio’s refugee community, will provide the keynote address which will take the audience on a journey often riddled with challenges and unknowns.

Mr. Yaqobi lives in Akron with his wife and 3 kids. After graduating from pharmaceutical school in Afghanistan, Yaqobi’s employer sent him on a scholarship to the United States to receive advanced English language training. Impacted by his experiences in America, Yaqobi wanted to pay-it-forward. He enlisted as a Linguist and Cultural Advisor with the U.S. Army leaving his family behind as he traveled to Kandahar where he faced many dangers, including getting his name on a bounty list with the Taliban. This keynote will transport you into his world and his journey to safety in Ohio.

Tickets to the event, which highlights Ohio’s refugee community and showcases the refugee experience, are $20 each and include on-site parking and a light breakfast in addition to the keynote. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.asiaohio.org/springseries or guests can mail checks to ASIA’s Akron office (730 Carroll St., Akron, OH 44304 C/O Ajla Karalic).

ASIA is offering premier sponsorship packages to interested guests and partners with benefits such as program ad space and presenter’s rights for the event. One presenting sponsorship could monumentally impact this event. Reach an audience of over a hundred guests. To sponsor, contact Ajla Karalic by email at akaralic@asiaohio.org or by phone at 330-535-3263 Ext 5307.
