Reuniting Families: Family Immigration Stories

image002

TELL YOUR STORY!

Has the family immigration system failed you?

Has it helped reunite your family?

Has a family member you sponsored contributed to your community?

Tell your story!  Help put a human face on the fight for immigration reform.

America’s family immigration system is broken:  huge backlogs keep families waiting as long as 10 or 20 years to be reunited.  Of the 4.3 million people in the family backlogs, nearly half are from Asian countries, and the Philippines, India, Vietnam and China are among the top 5 countries with the largest backlogs.

Asian Americans rely on the family immigration system to keep their families whole and healthy.  Approximately 60% of Asian Americans are foreign born.  More than 85% of visas issued for Asian countries were family-based, and Asian immigrants received more than one third of the worldwide family immigration visas.  In this year of immigration reform, we must ensure our lawmakers and the general public understand the importance of keeping American families together.

By collecting and sharing stories about family immigration we are able to reveal the suffering families endure when divided, and the successes they achieve when united.  For more information click here.
