ASIA ANNOUNCES THE PROMOTION OF  MS. MAO VUE TO DEPUTY DIRECTOR

Cleveland/Akron, Ohio – The Asian Services In Action’s board of directors is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Mao Vue to deputy director. As deputy director, Mao will serve as second in leadership for the organization.

Mao began her tenure at ASIA in 2001 serving as an administrative assistant. From there she has taken on increasingly more responsibilities. From 2002-05, she was project coordinator for women’s health and youth activities programs. She subsequently served as project director for Akron’s youth and family programs. In 2008, Mao was promoted to manager of programs and operations to provide general oversight over human resources, facilities, and grants/contracts compliance.

“Time and time again, Mao has demonstrated passion and commitment to the organization.  As a former refugee she embodies the organization’s mission, values, and culture. Mao has strong institutional knowledge of ASIA and what is important to the organization: that is to build strong individuals, families and communities, and to help them move further along the path to self-sufficiency,” said Michael Byun, executive director. “We are deeply grateful to Mao for her continued commitment and service to ASIA and its clients by taking on this new role.”

“We are very fortunate to have Mao serve as deputy director,” said Dr. Janet Kemp, board president. “ASIA has grown over the last few years. We had considered this position for some time only to realize the right person was always there.”

In the deputy director role, Mao will continue to take on key duties from her previous manager’s role but with increased authority to represent the organization’s interests internally and externally. The promotion is effective immediately.
