Akron, OH, 8 February 2023 – Asian Services in Action (ASIA), a community based non-profit organization serving Asian, new immigrant, and refugee communities in Ohio, gave PNC Bank the naming rights to a patient room in their Federally Qualified Health Center. The naming rights are for the 2023 calendar year.
PNC Bank sponsored ASIA’s 25+1 Anniversary Gala & Fundraiser at the level of International Community’s Champion for $5,000. The gala raised funds for expansion of ASIA’s programs and services, including opening a dental clinic, Lucky Seniors programming for aging adults, and more. As thanks for their sponsorship, their name will be displayed in ASIA’s International Community Health Center (ICHC) in Akron, in the exam room dedicated to administering COVID-19 vaccinations. A private commemoration event was held on Monday afternoon for PNC’s representatives to visit the room, tour ASIA’s ICHC, and meet staff and providers.
PNC Bank has been a continuous partner with ASIA in their Apex Fund for Economic Opportunity department for four years, which offers community members microloans, financial coaching, and credit counseling to help them gain financial independence and build up long-term savings for their family’s future.
“Some of [the clients] are able to put a down payment on a house....Home ownership is a divider between poverty and thriving," said Elaine Tso, Chief Executive Officer of ASIA. “We are so grateful for the partnership with PNC and the IDA Program.”
The donation made by PNC will be used where it is most needed across ASIA’s nine departments, which include wraparound services for both health and social services, to uplift and empower newly arrived immigrants and refugees in northeast Ohio in many aspects of life.
"Thank you for the opportunity for the naming rights for a patient room,” said Daniel Roberson, Vice President, Northern Ohio Community Consultant. “I want to make sure that we are a resource for you.”
