ASIA-ICHC Offers Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancer). In the next 30 days an estimated 19,690 women in the U.S. could receive a breast cancer diagnosis. But millions of women are surviving the disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatment.

Most women who get breast cancer have no known risk factors and no history of the disease in their families. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends that if you are 50 to 74 years old, be sure to have a screening mammogram every two years. If you are 40 to 49 years old, talk to your doctor about when to start and how often to get a screening mammogram.

Although breast cancer screening cannot prevent breast cancer, it can help find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat. Schedule an appointment at ASIA-ICHC to see which breast cancer screening tests are right for you, and when you should have them.
