ASIA-ICHC predominantly serves low-income, Limited English Proficient (LEP) immigrant and refugee populations. ASIA-ICHC provides opportunities for social workers to work with underserved populations by assisting the organization’s Mental Health/Behavioral Health program. A Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S) provides qualified supervision and guidance to interns who work in the Behavioral Health/Mental Health program. SUMMARY

ASIA-ICHC predominantly serves low-income, Limited English Proficient (LEP) immigrant and refugee populations. ASIA-ICHC provides opportunities for social workers to work with underserved populations by assisting the organization’s Mental Health/Behavioral Health program. A Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S) provides qualified supervision and guidance to interns who work in the Behavioral Health/Mental Health program. The intern’s work schedule can be flexible in order to avoid any conflicts with their current study.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following an initial period of training and shadowing opportunities, the intern will participate in all core clinical services offered through the Mental Health/Behavioral Health program at ASIA-ICHC. These duties will be tailored to the developmental level and training interests of individual students and may include individual therapy, group therapy, case management, policy advocacy, community engagement, needs assessment, and psycho-education.

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team along with Primary Care Provider, Registered Nurse, Medical Assistance and support staff;
  • Carry a small caseload and participate in weekly individual supervision and small group supervision, case consultation, and training and team meetings;
  • Conduct clinical social work intake interview to make appropriate referrals within ASIA, Inc., ASIA-ICHC and beyond;
  • Act as the primary case manager for ASIA-ICHC patients to the needed services to assist and communicate with PCP or outside providers;
  • Coordinate patient transportation, follow up and more;
  • Provide individual and group therapy for adults and/or children;
  • Attend and prepare ASIA-ICHC community outreach activities through Community Health Promotions;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A current master level social work student;
  • Bi-lingual skills are beneficial, but not required;
  • Must be sensitive to the language and cultural needs of the patients served;
  • Must be adept in working with diverse staff who are multi-cultural and multi-lingual;
  • Detailed oriented, organized, and ability to multi-task;
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and OS applications;
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Valid Ohio State driver’s license preferred;

The position reports to the Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor. We are seeking a candidate who has strong technical and soft skills, high energy, maturity and potential for leadership.
