ASIA's youth volunteers recognized by City of Akron

ASIA is pleased to announce that three of our volunteer youth working at the ICEP program were honored at the 21st Annual Global Youth Service Day recognition program hosted by the City of Akron on April 13, 2011. Denzel Ford, a student at Hoban High School, MinZawOo, a student at Jennings Middle School, and Edwin Zhang, a student at Revere High School were recognized for the many hours they volunteered at the three week 2010 ICEP summer program helping the elementary age students with everything from reading and cultural heritage to math and science.  ICEP is supported by the Summit County ADM Board.

MinZawOo was awarded Outstanding Volunteer (in the 14-15 years old category) for “making transition to America for his fellow Karens a much easier task.”  A $150.00 donation will be made to the ICEP program in MinZawOo’s name thanks to the sponsorship of US Bank.
