Free Summer IT Career Camp for High School Students

Do you have a teen that is interested in technology?  Invite them to attend University of Akron’s third annual IT Career Camp, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from June 18 to 22, 2012.  The camp will be held in the Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing in the Polsky Building.

Geared toward current high school sophomores and juniors who would like to learn more about information technology degrees and careers, the camp will offer a hands-on approach to learning.  Area companies will provide activities, including NASA Glenn (robotics activity), The J.M. Smucker Company (business process), The Timken Company (emerging technologies), Revol Wireless (mobile app development), Westfield Group (security/forensics) and Knotice, Ltd. (entrepreneurship).  The camp is free and lunch and snacks will be provided daily.  UA scholarships and other prizes also will be awarded to top participants.

Registration is now open at the IT Career Camp website. For more information, contact Dr. Bindiganavale S. Vijayaraman at vijay@uakron.edu or ext. 8224.
