FTC Warns of Scammers Targeting International Students


Please beware of the scams that are targeting international students studying in the United States. According to the update posted on the Federal Trade Commission’s website, students are receiving phone calls from individuals threatening arrest and deportation if the student does not immediately pay the money they demand.

The FTC states unequivocally that the federal government would never make such calls or threats and would never demand such payments. The FTC advises you to immediately hang up the phone if you receive a phone call of this nature.
