Give the Gift of Affordable Health Coverage

Give the Gift of Affordable Health Coverage

Ohioans may be eager to give this Giving Tuesday as well as throughout this holiday season, but navigators at Asian Services In Action, Inc. and throughout Ohio are encouraging them to also consider giving the gift of health coverage for themselves and their families.

“Perhaps the best gift you could give this holiday season is affordable health coverage,” said Michael Byun, CEO, at Asian Services In Action, Inc. “Plans available through the Marketplace at Healthcare.gov provide access to critical preventive health services and peace of mind. And 6 in 10 Ohioans can find a health insurance plan for $100 or less.

Navigators like those working at Asian Services In Action, Inc. are certified and licensed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Ohio Department of Insurance. Not only are their services free, but they are required to be completely fair and impartial when helping consumers shop for the best health coverage for them.

“We want to remind consumers that the 2016 presidential election doesn’t impact their ability to enroll in affordable Marketplace coverage,” said Byun. “In fact, more than 1 million people have already signed up for 2017 coverage through Healthcare.gov, and the AAPI community has seen the highest enrollment rates yet.”

Open enrollment in 2017 health insurance plans continues through January 31, 2017. The final date to sign up for coverage that will begin January 1 is December 15, 2016. Enrollment in Medicaid coverage for consumers with limited incomes is open year-round.

Events and available appointment times to meet with an assister or navigator across the state are available at areyoucoveredohio.org. Asian Services In Action, Inc. provides navigator services in Cuyahoga and Summit Counties; consumers can contact them directly with questions or to schedule an appointment at (216) 881-0330 (Cuyahoga) or (330) 535-3263 (Summit).

As we celebrate 20 years of programs and services like the Affordable Care Ace Outreach and Enrollment program at ASIA, we have received a challenge from the an anonymous donor who has stepped forward to match dollar-for-dollar every donation up to $100,000. We have the potential to raise $200,000 with your help. As we celebrate our 20 years of service, we hope you’ll consider giving this Giving Tuesday to keep ASIA and our programs strong for another 20 more years to come.
