Asian Services In Action (ASIA) was founded in 1995 with a mission to empower and to advocate for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI); and to provide AAPIs with access to quality, culturally and linguistically appropriate information and services. Annually ASIA serves over 10,000 low-income, underserved individuals, families and communities through over 30 Asian and non-Asian languages. ASIA is offering a Finance and Program Assistant position who will provide fiscal management and program services assistance. The position primarily reports to the Director of Finance and Finance/Program Coordinator but will also work closely with program staff on ASIA’s leadership team. He or she must be an excellent team player but also be able to work independently. We are looking for someone who pays close attention to detail, is able to complete tasks on time, and are able to work with diverse staff. The person must have a strong commitment to immigrant and refugee concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Assist with managing fiscal activities of ASIA’s programs and services
 Assist with preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements and annual budget
 Assist to manage chart of accounts and help with monthly and end of year grant fiscal reconciliation
 Under the direction of the Finance Director and Finance/Program Coordinator and program staff, assist programs
 Work with program staff on program infrastructure and systems project to improve and strengthen the program. This includes:
o Creating forms and processes to improve timely fiscal and program reporting
o Assist with grant program reports when needed
o Help to develop good tracking system so program staff are aware of program related expenses as it relates to the goals and objectives of the grant

Qualifications

 Accounting degree, and/or certification
 Experience with accounts payables and accounts receivables
 Must have strong attention to detail, numbers and calculations
 Strong competency using QuickBooks and Excel
 Experience working within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment highly desirable
 Capable of working with multi-cultural and multi-lingual staff, some of whom are limited English Speaking
 Commitment to excellence in social services
 Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
 Demonstrated ability to manage own activities and stay on-task
 Ability to work independently and with others as a team member, and to take initiative or leadership when needed
 Proficiency with or willingness to learn Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher
 Willingness to travel regularly between ASIA’s Cleveland and Akron offices to meet with program staff.
 Demonstrated competence in working on behalf of Asian Pacific Americans
 Proficient in a major Asian language preferred
 Must pass criminal background check and have a valid Ohio State driver’s license
 Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
