MARCIA L. FUDGE U.S. MEMBER OF CONGRESS SEEKING INTERNS

FOR OHIO’S ELEVENTH DISTRICT OFFICE (NON-PAID AND FOR COLLEGE CREDIT ONLY.)

Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge offers college juniors and seniors and recent graduates an opportunity to experience a firsthand glimpse into the daily proceedings of a United States Congressional District Office. College students interested in social work, government or politics are encouraged to apply. Interns are an integral part of our success. We welcome diversity in Ohio’s Eleventh District Office. The LGBT community is encouraged to apply. In the busy atmosphere of a Congressional office, it is important that interns conduct themselves in a mature, professional manner; are well-organized and able to take initiative, follow instructions, perform well under pressure; and work well as part of a team.

General Intern Responsibilities:
• Answer telephones
• Handle mail
• Scan documents, organize files, and create labels
• Assisting with the creation of proclamations and special District related projects
• Assisting with Casework
• Clerical assignments
• Assisting staff
• Inventory
• Representing Congresswoman Fudge at community events and meetings
• Researching federal legislation for constituents
• Researching issues relevant to the district and Congresswoman Fudge
• Other related duties, as required

Required Skills:
• Extremely strong interpersonal skills
• Effective and professional phone etiquette
• Attention to detail
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to complete task efficiently and thoroughly and meet deadlines
• Ability to follow instructions
• Strong writing skills
• Computer research skills
• Highly motivated and able to take initiative
• Ability to work as a team and independently is a must

Application Process:
There is no application deadline. Interns are accepted throughout the year on both a full and part-time basis. Priority
is given to applicants from Ohio’s 11th apply. Selection is based on an applicant’s general office and computer experience, interview, and a short writing sample.
