CINCINNATI, OHIO – In wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that is plaguing the country of Japan, Time Warner Cable is opening TV Japan to its digital customers in Southwest Ohio for one week at no cost.  TV Japan can be found on channel 859.

Southwest Ohio Regional Vice President of Operations Shannon Mullins says the effort is designed to provide local residents with the latest developments and most accurate information, especially those with connections to the impacted areas.

“During significant emergencies like this, it is important the lines of communications remain open.  We want to do our part to connect those in our area with most current and comprehensive information about the tragedy,” she said.

TV Japan is a 24-hour Japanese language television channel geared towards the Japanese community in North America.  It is currently the only Japanese TV channel available in the United States and Canada.  TV Japan airs the various programming from Japan including comprehensive news coverage in both Japanese and English, dramas, movies, children’s programs & entertainment shows.  TV Japan also features extensive sports coverage including coverage of the Grand Sumo tournaments, Japanese baseball and J-League soccer matches.

TV Japan is a digital service and requires a digital converter.
